The MD300 Mobile Broadband USB Modem is compatible with various operating systems such as the Apple MAC OS, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. Its drivers include NDIS 5 driver and Microsoft XP WHQL certified drivers. It is capable of accessing different network protocols such as HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, and GPRS. It has typical HSDPA download speeds of 3.6 Mb/s and upload speed of 384 kb/s. For EDGE it has a typical download speed of 247.4 kb/s and 123.7 kb/s upload speed.

To function, GSM mobile phones need a tiny microchip called a SIM card. The letters stand for Subscriber Identity Module, which indicates the purpose of the card.
